Description

A delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring smoky sausage and sweet pineapple chunks coated in a savory, tangy glaze, baked to perfection for a perfect party treat or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs smoked sausage
  • 20 oz can pineapple chunks

Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon pineapple juice (reserved from the can)

For Serving

  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425° F (220° C) to get it ready for baking the sausage and pineapple bites.
  2. Prepare Sausage and Pineapple: Remove the smoked sausage from its packaging and slice it into 1-inch pieces. Place the sliced sausage in a 9×13-inch baking pan. Drain the pineapple chunks but reserve about 1 tablespoon of pineapple juice. Add the pineapple chunks to the baking pan with the sausage.
  3. Make the Glaze: In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, combine teriyaki sauce, chili sauce, honey, and the reserved pineapple juice. Stir well to blend the flavors.
  4. Coat Sausage and Pineapple: Pour the glaze over the sausage and pineapple in the pan. Gently stir everything together to make sure the pieces are coated evenly with the sauce.
  5. Bake: Bake the mixture uncovered in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, gently stir the sausage and pineapple to redistribute the glaze and ensure even cooking. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm. You can serve the bites directly from the baking pan using toothpicks or assemble them beforehand by placing a pineapple chunk on a toothpick followed by a piece of sausage, then arrange them on a serving platter.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, marinate the sausage in the sauce for 30 minutes before baking.
  • This appetizer can be made ahead of time and reheated just before serving.
