Ingredients
Scale
Pork Filling
- 350 grams ground pork (or any ground meat)
- 1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 2 teaspoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine (or dry sherry, optional)
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Assembly
- round dumpling wrappers
- 30 ml water per serving
- Spicy chili oil (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the ground pork with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, chopped green onions, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Layer the dumpling lasagna: In a mug or ramekin, begin by adding a layer of the pork mixture, then place a dumpling wrapper over it, followed by another layer of pork mixture.
- Add water: Pour approximately 30 ml of water over the layered pork and wrapper to help steam the dumplings and keep them moist.
- Top with wrapper: Finish by placing one more dumpling wrapper on top, pressing it down gently to submerge it in the water, creating the final seal on the layered lasagna.
- Repeat layering: Follow this layering procedure for all ramekins, maintaining the order: pork, wrapper, pork, water, wrapper.
- Steam the dumplings: Place all ramekins inside a large pot. Add water to reach halfway up the sides of the ramekins, cover the pot with a lid, and steam for 15 minutes to allow the pork to cook thoroughly and the wrappers to soften.
- Serve: Once cooked, remove the ramekins carefully. Drizzle with spicy chili oil for an extra kick, and enjoy your savory pork dumpling lasagna.
Notes
- Shaoxing wine is optional but adds authentic flavor; you can substitute with dry sherry.
- Ensure the ramekins are heatproof and can fit inside your steaming pot or setup.
- Adjust salt and pepper to your taste preference before layering.
- Serve immediately after steaming for the best texture and warmth.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated by steaming again to maintain moisture.
