  • Author: Lila
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8-12 croissants depending on cutting size 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delight in these homemade Strawberry Cream Croissants featuring flaky puff pastry filled with a luscious blend of cream cheese and fresh strawberries. Perfectly baked to a golden brown, these croissants offer a sweet and tangy flavor ideal for breakfast or an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Croissants:

  • 1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

For the Strawberry Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth and creamy, then gently fold in the sliced strawberries. Set the filling aside.
  2. Prepare the Croissants: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into 4 to 6 triangles. Place a spoonful of the strawberry cream filling at the wide end of each triangle, then roll the triangles up from the wide end to the tip, forming croissants.
  3. Bake: Arrange the rolled croissants on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the croissants with the egg wash. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and puffed.
  4. Serve: Allow the croissants to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, dust them with powdered sugar for an added touch of sweetness and presentation.

Notes

  • Ensure puff pastry sheets are fully thawed before rolling for easier handling.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and texture.
  • For a dairy-free alternative, substitute cream cheese with a plant-based cream cheese.
  • These croissants are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat gently in the oven before serving to restore flakiness.
