  • Author: Lila
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 sandwiches 1x

Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Mozzarella Prosciutto Sandwich featuring toasted crusty bread, thinly sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and peppery arugula, finished with a drizzle of olive oil and optional balsamic vinegar for a perfect blend of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich

  • 2 crusty sandwich rolls or baguette
  • 4 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • A handful of fresh arugula or spinach
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Pan: Preheat a pan or skillet over medium heat to prepare for toasting the bread.
  2. Prepare Bread: Slice the sandwich rolls or baguette in half lengthwise to create two halves ready for assembling.
  3. Toast Bread: Lightly drizzle the inside of each bread half with olive oil and place them in the pan cut side down. Toast until golden brown and crispy, which usually takes about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add Balsamic Vinegar: Remove the toasted bread from the pan and optionally drizzle about a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar on the bottom halves to add a subtle tangy sweetness.
  5. Assemble Sandwich: Layer the thinly sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella slices, and fresh arugula or spinach evenly on the bottom half of the toasted bread.
  6. Season and Top: Season the layered ingredients with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, then place the top half of the bread over the fillings.
  7. Serve: Slice the sandwich in half for easy serving and enjoy immediately while the bread is warm and crisp.

Notes

  • Use fresh, high-quality prosciutto and mozzarella for the best flavor.
  • Arugula adds a nice peppery bite, but spinach can be used as a milder alternative.
  • Balsamic vinegar is optional but adds a pleasant acidity that complements the richness of the cheese and prosciutto.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the sandwich rolls with gluten-free bread.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast of warm toasted bread and fresh ingredients.
