  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Description

Delight in a festive treat with these King Cake Oreo Balls, combining crushed Golden Oreo cookies and cream cheese dipped in white chocolate and decorated with colorful Mardi Gras sprinkles. This no-bake, easy-to-make party snack is perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 package Golden Oreo cookies (36 regular sized cookies, not double stuffed)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

Coating & Decoration

  • 16 ounces white chocolate, melted
  • Sprinkles in purple, yellow, and green
  • 1 tiny plastic baby (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper to prevent the Oreo balls from sticking.
  2. Process Oreos and cream cheese: In a food processor, combine the Golden Oreo cookies and softened cream cheese. Pulse until the mixture is completely combined and the cookie pieces are mostly broken down.
  3. Form balls: Remove the mixture from the processor, scoop out 1-inch portions, and roll into balls. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Freeze balls: Place the baking sheet with the Oreo balls into the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up before dipping.
  5. Melt white chocolate: While the balls chill, melt the white chocolate using a microwave in short bursts or a double boiler method until smooth.
  6. Add tiny baby (optional): Remove the truffles from the freezer and, if desired, insert the tiny plastic baby into one of the Oreo balls to keep with King Cake tradition.
  7. Dip balls in chocolate: Using a fork or dipping tool, coat each Oreo ball completely with melted white chocolate and place them back on the baking sheet.
  8. Decorate: Immediately sprinkle the chocolate-covered balls with purple, yellow, and green sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet for festive decoration.
  9. Set coating: Return the decorated Oreo balls to the refrigerator or freezer for about 5 minutes, allowing the chocolate coating to fully set.
  10. Serve and enjoy: Once set, the King Cake Oreo Balls are ready to be served as a delicious and festive treat.

Notes

  • For best results, use Golden Oreos and not double stuffed for optimal texture.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easier blending with the cookies.
  • The tiny plastic baby is optional but adds a fun, traditional element to the treat.
  • White chocolate can be melted carefully to avoid burning by microwaving in 20-second intervals and stirring frequently.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • These treats are best served chilled but can sit out for short periods while serving.
