  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

The Hugo Spritz is a classic Italian elderflower cocktail that combines the refreshing flavors of Prosecco, elderflower liqueur, and soda water with fresh mint and lime. This easy-to-make drink is perfect for warm days and casual gatherings, offering a light, floral, and bubbly experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Drink Ingredients

  • 5 oz Prosecco, chilled
  • 2 oz elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)
  • 2 oz soda water (club soda), chilled
  • 1/2 lime, sliced
  • 68 fresh mint leaves
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra mint sprig, for garnish
  • Lime wheel, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glasses: Fill large wine glasses with plenty of ice cubes to chill the drinks adequately.
  2. Muddle aromatics: Add fresh mint leaves and lime slices to each glass. Gently muddle them using a muddler or the back of a spoon to release the fresh aromas without tearing the leaves.
  3. Add elderflower liqueur: Pour 2 oz of elderflower liqueur into each prepared glass over the ice and muddled ingredients.
  4. Top with Prosecco and soda water: Carefully add 2.5 oz of chilled Prosecco and then 1 oz of soda water to each glass to keep the bubbles intact.
  5. Mix and garnish: Give each drink a gentle stir to combine the flavors. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a lime wheel. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh, sparkling cocktail at its best.

Notes

  • Use fresh mint leaves for the best aroma, but avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness.
  • Chill Prosecco and soda water in advance for a perfectly cold cocktail.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of elderflower liqueur according to taste.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute elderflower liqueur with elderflower syrup and skip the Prosecco, topping with extra soda water instead.
  • This cocktail is best served immediately to maintain its effervescence.
