Description

Learn how to make a delicious Homemade Sloppy Joe Sauce that’s perfect for topping burgers or filling sandwiches. This tangy and sweet sauce will elevate your next meal!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sloppy Joe Sauce:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3/4 cup water (divided in 1/2)
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, on medium-high heat, sauté the ground beef and onions until the meat is in small bits and the onion is transparent, about 6 minutes. Add garlic and continue to sauté until garlic is fragrant, about a minute or two.
  2. Pour in the first half of the water, scrape the pan, and add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3 minutes on medium-high heat.
  3. Add the additional water, turn heat down to medium, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until thickened. Stir often.
  4. Stir in the sriracha and vinegar. Let stand for a couple of minutes. Serve over buns or as desired.
