- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 (16 oz) bags mini marshmallows, divided
- 1 (12 oz) box Rice Krispies cereal
Instructions
- Prepare Pans: Grease 2 pans with cooking spray; one 9×13 inch and one 8×8 inch pan are recommended for even spreading and cooling.
- Melt Butter: Over low heat, melt the unsalted butter in a large stockpot slowly to prevent burning.
- Add Salt and Marshmallows: Stir in the salt and one bag of mini marshmallows continuously until fully melted and smooth.
- Combine Cereal and Remaining Marshmallows: Remove the pot from heat, gently stir in the Rice Krispies cereal along with the other bag of mini marshmallows, careful not to crush the cereal.
- Transfer to Pans: Pour the sticky mixture evenly into the prepared pans. Gently press it down without applying too much force to keep the treats light and chewy.
- Cool and Cut: Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting into squares to ensure they hold their shape without crumbling.
Notes
- Be gentle when pressing the mixture into the pan to avoid hardening the treats.
- Store Rice Krispie Treats at room temperature for 2-3 days, in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 6 weeks.
