Description

A classic French dessert, this Easy Blueberry Clafoutis is a simple and elegant baked custard filled with juicy blueberries. Lightly sweetened and flavored with vanilla, it’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dessert. The batter is blended until smooth, poured over fresh blueberries, then baked to a golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Clafoutis Batter

  • 2 tsp butter, softened (for greasing)
  • 4 medium eggs, room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Fruit

  • 2 cups blueberries

For Serving (Optional)

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Ice cream or whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preparing Equipment: Preheat your oven to 180 °C (350°F). Generously grease a pie dish that can hold at least 1 quart of batter with softened butter and set aside.
  2. Making the Batter: In a blender, combine the eggs, all-purpose flour, sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Blend until the mixture is smooth and fully combined, ensuring a lump-free batter.
  3. Assembling the Clafoutis: Pour the smooth batter into the greased pie dish. Evenly scatter the blueberries over the batter, gently pressing them in slightly to distribute evenly.
  4. Baking the Clafoutis: Place the prepared dish in the center of the preheated oven. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cooling and Serving: Remove the clafoutis from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Optionally, dust the top with powdered sugar. Slice and serve warm, accompanied by ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use a pie dish or baking dish that holds at least 1 quart to ensure proper batter thickness and cooking.
  • Room temperature eggs help create a smooth batter.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and served cold or gently reheated.
