Description

This Cortisol Cocktail is a soothing and refreshing herbal tea blend designed to help reduce stress and balance cortisol levels. Combining the calming properties of green tea, chamomile, fresh turmeric, and ginger, this lightly sweetened beverage is perfect for relaxing moments or to start your day on a healthy note. Served chilled over ice, it offers a delightful mix of flavors with a gentle citrus twist from lemon juice.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 1 Green tea bag
  • 1 Chamomile tea bag
  • 1 tsp dried Chamomile flowers
  • 1 cup Water

Flavor Additions

  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 inch grated Turmeric
  • 1 inch grated fresh Ginger
  • 1 tsp Honey (optional)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: Heat water until it reaches a rolling boil to ensure proper extraction of tea flavors and beneficial compounds.
  2. Steep Tea Bags: Place the green tea bag and chamomile tea bag into a heat-safe container, then pour the hot water over them. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes to release flavors and antioxidants.
  3. Strain Tea: Remove the tea bags and strain out the loose chamomile flowers to create a clear infusion base for your cocktail.
  4. Add Lemon Juice: Squeeze the juice from half a lemon into the brewed tea to add brightness and vitamin C.
  5. Grate Spices: Grate fresh turmeric and ginger directly into the tea mixture to infuse anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits along with earthy flavors.
  6. Sweeten: If desired, stir in one teaspoon of honey to naturally sweeten the drink and complement the spices.
  7. Steep Further: Stir well and allow the mixture to rest for another 5 minutes, letting all the ingredients meld together for maximum flavor.
  8. Chill with Ice: Fill a glass with ice cubes, then pour the cooled tea mixture over the ice.
  9. Mix and Serve: Gently swirl the glass to chill and blend the flavors evenly. Serve immediately for a refreshing and calming cocktail experience.

Notes

  • This cocktail is caffeine-light due to green tea, and chamomile adds a calming effect, making it suitable for late afternoon or early evening.

  • Honey is optional; you can adjust sweetness or omit for a sugar-free version.
  • To make this drink warm instead of cold, serve immediately after steeping without ice.
