  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A classic and flavorful beef and broccoli stir-fry recipe featuring tender slices of flank steak, crisp broccoli florets, and a savory sauce made with soy and oyster sauces. This quick and easy stir-fry is perfect for a nutritious weeknight dinner served over rice or noodles.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Vegetables

  • 1 pound flank steak (or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

Other

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix Sauce Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and beef broth until the mixture is smooth. Set this sauce aside for later use.
  2. Heat Oil and Cook Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef in a single layer and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. Cook the Broccoli and Aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the same skillet. Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3 to 4 minutes until they turn bright green and are crisp-tender. Then add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  4. Combine Beef and Sauce: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and stir well to coat. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the dish is heated through. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
  5. Serve: Plate the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles and enjoy your meal.

Notes

  • For best results, slice the beef thinly against the grain to keep it tender.
  • You can substitute broccoli with other vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for variety.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar for sweetness according to preference.
  • Use low sodium soy sauce to control saltiness in the dish.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
