Air Fryer Peri-Peri Chicken Wings Recipe

  • Author: Lila
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These Air Fryer Peri-Peri Chicken Wings are spicy, crispy, and loaded with bold, smoky, and tangy flavors. Using an air fryer, these wings achieve a perfect crispy texture without the need for deep frying, making them a healthier and convenient option for game days, parties, or whenever you’re craving a fiery snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 1 ½ lbs chicken wings, split and tips removed

Marinade

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp peri-peri sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish (optional)

  • Chopped parsley
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps ensure a crispy texture when cooked.
  2. Make the Marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, peri-peri sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until fully combined.
  3. Marinate the Wings: Toss the dried chicken wings in the marinade, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours to deepen the flavors.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) and let it preheat for a few minutes to ensure an even cook.
  5. Arrange and Cook: Place the marinated wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Cook for 24 to 28 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning and crispiness. The wings should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and be golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  6. Rest and Garnish: Remove the wings from the air fryer and allow them to rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of peri-peri sauce to suit your preferred spice level.
  • These wings pair wonderfully with cooling dips like ranch dressing or garlic mayonnaise.
  • For an extra crispy finish, lightly spray the wings with oil before air frying.
  • Leftover wings can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3 to 5 minutes without losing crispness.
