1 tablespoon butter

  • 3 garlic cloves (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or stock)
  • 1 cup half and half or heavy cream (warmed)

Instructions

  1. Over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the garlic cloves to the pan, and sauté them for about 2 minutes, moving them around to make sure they toast to a golden color, but don’t burn.
  2. Add the Italian seasoning to the garlic and toast it for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the chicken broth or stock and the warmed cream or half and half to the pan. Stir and bring it all to a simmer, then cook it for 5 minutes to reduce it and give it a thicker texture.
  4. To thicken it further, make a slurry by mixing 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl. Add it to the sauce and simmer it for 5 minutes.
